Winstrol Overview

Winstrol (stanozolol) is a synthetic anabolic steroid derived from dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Developed in the early 1960s, Winstrol is 17-alpha-alkylated and has been available in oral tablet and injectable forms. It does not convert to estrogen.

Medical Use of Winstrol

Winstrol has been prescribed to reduce the frequency and severity of attacks of hereditary angioedema, a rare genetic condition causing episodes of severe swelling. It has also been used historically in the treatment of certain anemias. Newer therapies have largely replaced Winstrol, and its human use is now limited in many markets.

Non-Medical Use

Winstrol is widely misused by athletes and bodybuilders seeking lean muscle, strength, and a harder physique. It is banned under the WADA Prohibited List and illegal without a prescription in many countries.

Safety Information

Winstrol can cause liver toxicity, including liver tumors, and significantly lower HDL cholesterol. It may suppress natural testosterone production and cause virilization in women. Liver function and lipid monitoring are recommended.
