Anavar (oxandrolone) is a synthetic anabolic steroid derived from dihydrotestosterone. Anavar is formulated as oral tablets and is characterized by a high ratio of anabolic to androgenic activity.

Clinical Indications

Anavar has been indicated as adjunctive therapy to promote weight gain following extensive surgery, chronic infection, or severe trauma, and to offset protein catabolism associated with prolonged corticosteroid use. It has also been used for the relief of bone pain accompanying osteoporosis.

Safety Profile

Anavar may cause hepatotoxicity, adverse changes in serum lipids, suppression of endogenous testosterone, and virilization in female patients. Periodic monitoring of liver function and lipid levels is recommended during therapy.
